Yesterday, i was with the signaletics chairman, Armengol Torres, in the first redsens meeting organized by libelilum where meet the most representative of the sensor and control companies in spain.
Redsens aims to be the working group of sensors networks in the spanish market. The group is in a initial stage but in the meeting was feeling of wanting everything begins to grow and begins to start.
we meet the companies signaletics, world sensing, dexma from barcelona, indra from madrid, Teckniker from the country basc and TST from cantabria. there was universities representatives and public organization as Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, CTTC from Barcelona (It's center of avanced telematics that it's part of the politecnic university of catalonia), Universidad Carlos III from madrid, Universidad de Cantabria and La Salle university from Barcelona.
Libelilum was the organizer of the meeting and the last talk. They exposed their vision in the market of the sensing and control and showed his young history doing products with the arduino platform. They explain how will want organize the working group redsend and how should be ours work in the group. Libelilum announcement their new sensor platform named wasp mote, which is the first platform develop from they focused in the industrial market and with all the test passed (CE mark).
Topics witch was talked was develop some colaborative iniciatives as wiki or forums to post project witch we can colaborate together, mixing the diferents expertise ot the members of the group.

The summary of the participants
The attender from La salle university talks about the need of develop sensor technology to the electrical distribution enterprises (Iberdrola, Endesa mainly) They are experimenting with the PLC technology but PLC technology is expensive and prone to interference. They ask to other attendeds about the possibilities do a consortium to talk in better position with the big players of the electrical distribution in spain.
The attender Carles anton from CTTC talk about their expertise in the 1,2,3 first osi levels. Talk about the importance of describe a good mathematical model to model the behavior of the mesh and evaluate the real mesh implementation throughput versus the mathematical model. CTTC are the organizer of the 2009 ieee cross layer design meeting in palma de mallorca, spain. CTTC have implemented a new proof of concept of mesh algorith designed to better energy conservation named 1hop - MAC
the next participant was eduardo arceredillo from Tekniker. Tekniker is a country basc i+d research center. Their principal mission are a i+d transference and cooperate with the basc industry. Eduardo speak about the diferents proyects do by tekniker. Tekniker is a participant in the FP6 and FP7 frameworks.
Dexma CEO Joan Pinyol was the next speaker. Dexma is a engineering company experts in software of WSN.They said that is a technology gap in WSN because at this moment the market there are only early adopters customers. This make the mission of create products to WSN more difficult because there is a small piece of the potencial market waiting for a solution. They submit his project in the IRTA a project of WSN to monitor the water conditions speed of growth of stems of the plant in a research IRTA greenhouse.
The next speaker INDRA, speak about the diferents projects did by them. They are mainly consultants and integrators in differents WSN technology and RTLS providers. Indra describe the implantation of the ekahau technology in the hospital 12 de octubre in madrid.
World Sensing is a new spinoff of the Universitat of Barcelona and the Universitat oberta of Catalonia. His mainly product is a platform of WSN to capture geophisics data. Their expertise is in avanced techniques of information processing (Kalman filters, empirical mode decomposition ...)
The final speak was david gascon from libelum. He talked about the libelum project, and his work in the arduino platform, david shared his experience in the comunity and finally talked about the new libelum product WASP mote.It's a product ready to use in industrial and comercial market, the first product from libelum was target to the university a hobbies markets.
