I wish now talk about the new technology from Freescale, Synkro.
Synkro
is a new technology to control the diferents devices in ours homes.
Synkro is in the top of the 802.11.4 standard and uses the low cost
radios. The diferencies with zigbee are that synkro can’t do meshes and
it’s unable to do hoping it’s a replacement from the IR technology that
predominate in the home devices controls.
Infrared technology has
diferents problems, It’s a directional technology, the infrared beam
need to be redirect to the device to comunicated with them, it’s not
possible if the infrared diode is not in the line of vision of the
device.
The infrared also has interference with the new plasma tvs. The plasma
devices absorb the infrared light and made a lot of comunications
errors.
Synkro would made possible to comunicate in the oposite way. With
synkro the home device can comunicate with the control, sending
information about the tv billboard, doing some automation as record
movies or do interactive polls with the tv programs.
In the technology way, the syncro protocol is optimized to use the less
interferencied channels by the wifi spots.
To deploy this technology and create a comunity to support this technology some of the top company in consumers electronic and home electronic: SONY, SAMSUNG, Panasonic and Philips and three of the top silicon providers Freescale, Texas Instrument and Oki founded the rf4ce consortium.
