Improving 802.15.4 comunications

I want to write a resume of the technologies to improve the comunications in zigbee meshes.

There are 2 ways  to improve the comunications.

using more power, more DB of output

or improbe the antenas design

In the first case, there is a hardware design from texas instrument with  cc2591 or Low power Amps Designs from CEL for the Freescale SOC.

the second way is new antenas designs.
